WALTER HESKETH 15TH JUNE 2007, MANCHESTER

My Dad is one of the nicest people you could hope to meet. He will never be forgotten by his family and friends. He was a gentle, thoughtful, kind man. He had a wonderful sense of humour and a great laugh.I could always depend on him and he never let me down.

His mum and dad were called Doris and Walter, and he had a sister June and a brother Bill.

He was married to Margaret and had three children, Carol ,Chris and Mark. He also had nine grandchildren and two great grand children. He was and always will be adored by us all. Dad you now have a new great grandson, Olly, Sarah and Nicks new baby. He's cute ,like you .

My Dad is the best Dad in the world and we all love and miss him so much. He is in our thoughts and hearts constantly.

How do you thank someone for love beyond words? For the sense that I could trust him with my life and that he is always on your side. How can you thank someone for always being there for us,for always loving and supporting us. He always loved us and we loved him in return.I adore him and will always be a Daddy's girl.

Walter was an extremely popular and accomplished athlete who achieved great success in the 1950's becoming the British record holder for 6 miles, the first man to win the National Cross Country title at every age group and to represent his country on many occasions. He then went on to coach runners who went on to achieve National recognition.

He began running at the age of fourteen and it was his lifelong passion. He regularly beat runners who were older than him. He beat a five mile record that had stood for forty years. He won many races and was considered to be one of the finest runners of his generation.

He used to run with Gordon Pirie,Roger Bannister,Frank Sando,Geoff Saunders among many others. We have files of newspaper cuttings on his career. He is mentioned in many running books ,

His other passion was animals. Animal welfare was very important to him. the neighbours always brought strays or injured animals to my Dad who looked after them. We had many pets ,dogs, Lassie and Bess and his favourite ,Rossie. My Dad thought he was a lot nicer and cleverer than some humans.

He is the best Father anyone could ever have and I am so very lucky to have him as my Dad. We will all be together again one day.

He was always a star in his life and I am sure he is a star now in Heaven.

I love you Dad, you are very special and mean the world to me.

Yesterday morning

I love you

Night night Dad. God bless and keep you safe. I love and miss you every day and always will until I join you. Please look after Bill and Tosca and all our family, friends and pets.
You are always in my heart and head. I think of you all the time and wish we could turn back the clock to when I was born so we could have all that time and more again. This time I would never let you go . I would make you better or find a doctor somewhere who could. And then when we had to go we would go together. It's not the same life without you here.
It can't be can it? The main person in our family is in Heaven and we are all here without you. But not for long Dad. As you said, we are here only a short time,a speck, a blink of an eye and then we will all be together forever.
I carry you with me always,

Love and cuddles, kisses and hugs,Carol xxxxxx

Sunday morning

Next to you

You cannot see or touch me
But I am standing next to you
Your tears can only hurt me
Your sadness makes me blue.

Be brave and show a smiling face
Let not your grief show through
I love you from a different place
Yet I am standing next to you.

I love you so very much Dad. You are always in my heart and soul. We will be together again soon Dad, for eternity, love and hugs,Carol xxxx

Saturday afternoon

Always a face before me

There is always a face before me
A voice I would love to hear
A smile I will always remember
Of my Dad who I love so dear.

We cannot bring the old times back
When we were all together
But those we love don't go away
They walk with us forever.

Love you Dad,always in my thoughts and heart, love and hugs,Carol xxxx

Friday morning

If roses grow in Heaven

If roses grow in Heaven Lord
Please pick a bunch for me
Place them in my Dad's arms
And tell him they are from me.

Do you belive in angels Dad? Are you an angel? I just watched a programme about angels swearing that we will be reunited and see each other again. No doubt, total conviction. I hope that's true,is it true? I have been told so many times by mediums that we will be together again, I have to believe it, hold on to it as the absolute truth.

I love you Dad. I think of you and all our family every day. My heart breaks when I realise you are not here and I can't just phone you for a chat or give you a hug.

I hope you know how much I have always loved you. How adored and cherished you are. The best of men.

Love and cuddles, kisses and hugs, Carol xxxxx
